Development!

Tarahara ChowkThe village and its people have seen several autums come and pass by. Time has taught the needs for advancement. With the technological advancement the villagers have taken necessary steps to keep themselves fit to the current competitive world. They have developed necessary infrastructures and the development continues. It feels really good to hear today that once all muddy and dusty streets are now asphalted. There are high schools, modern playgrounds, new shopping places and internet cafes in the vllage.

Some recent and notable developmental avtivities in the village.

I was in the village recently. I spent a month (December 2007) there. I was really happy to see the changes the village has gone through in the three years I was away from home. The main chowk looks so different with the new road. It looks clean. There are new stores, departmental stores, interntet cafe and many more things added up. It seemed the population has drastically gone up too. There are houses built everywhere. Those paddy fields we used to see are no more there. There are new roads and new houses being built all over the village. There are several houses along the highway too. If the construction continues it won't take long for Itahari to be linked with Tarahara with houses filled along the connecting road. Well, to summarize it was great to see all those changes in the village. However, there has not been much improvement in health related field which is very important. Everybody must be ignoring this because of BPKIHS being so close by. However we do need skilled health professionals in the village. And we might need a college in the village. I will point out the most important changes I saw during my month-long stay.

  • Wide and clean road in the Bazar area.
  • A very fine road on Ekta lines; it really looks very nice!
  • Road from Hatiya extended till Tamang tole. Further plans of expanding till Bhuwanipur.
  • 10+2 education started in Jana Shahayog School with newly constructed building.
  • Renovation of the Shiva Temple. Check out the photo gallery.
  • New departmental stores opened. I didn't quite like the service though!
  • Internet cafe!

And the list goes on....Keep it up fellas! Good luck!

Few things that might need urgent attention.

  • A good health care center.
  • The bridge over haat khola needs renovation, better build a new and wider one. It really looks crappy with the new and wide roads on both the sides. Also they need to stop the people from making houses along side the river. They are taking up the pulic land and If it continues the river will look like a small drain in few years.
  • With the population gone up drastically we need more security. The police station is still the same with limited people and supplies. This really needs attention.
  • With so many houses being built in new areas, they must ask the land owners to open up wider roads before they sell the lands for housing. We don't want ASAN-like streets in our village, rite?
