About Tarahara

Jadibuti FarmHistory dates back to many decades when firts people got settled down in this beautiful and peaceful village. Inhabitation must have been made easy by the nearby forest and the fertile soil. The vast plain land with fertile soil made the earlier settlers, farmers mostly, love the land. The closeby forest had all the supplies they needed to build houses and raise cattle. There are no official historical documents about the settlement of the village. However, old residents claim the first settlers were the hill-people who came down during the winter. As they got settled down they could not leave the vast plain land with huge potential for agriculture, farming and easy commuting.

The new land had to offer a lot to the settlers but there were other things to be considered as well. The most important being communicable diseases spread via mosquitoes. Many people got sick with malaria in the begining. This forced them to build tall houses with rooms on the second storey like beach houses to avoid mosquitoes.

The village came to a modern form sometime during the decade of 2030 B.S. (1970 AD). The government of Nepal established a regional agriculture research center which brought employees from all over the countty. The village people got employment as well. Moreover the research scientists at the center helped the local farmers make most out of their crops. People started seeing brighter days ahead for them.

The village lies on the Dharan-Jogbani Highway which makes it communicable to all cities in the Eastern Region. It lies in between Itahari and Dharan, both of which are well known cities in the country. Dharan is a beutiful city with lots of tourism potential while Itahari is an important business hub. The nearest airport is in Biratnagar, about an hour drive away. There are bus services connecting to all parts of the country. Locals usually use bicycles or motorcycles for commuting.

Today the village has grown up a lot. The population has grown to a large number over a very short period of time. This occurred especially during the maoist turmoil in the country when thousand of people migrated from hilly reions to the plain. However the village is bound to grow and prosper. There are enough schools now, there is a good health center and other private clinics. There are playgrounds and parks built. People have united to form Forest Conservation Groups. I see bright days coming for my village and my fellows living out there.

NB: I have written this page totally on my personal knowledge about the village and I am still working on it to get the accurate facts and figures. Please write to me if you find anything missing or any thing that might be wrong.
